BEYOND FORGIVING (Film and discussion)

This is a true story of tragedy, hope and reconciliation involving a black Atheist man and a white Christian woman in Apartheid South Africa. One has suffered directly from the actions of the other, but both have been victims and they rise beyond their pain. They become united in a powerful journey beyond forgiveness to reconcile and help others. It will indeed be good to have Howard, the executive producer of the award winning film to lead us in a discussion of its implications for human relationships across the divides of race and religion.

Location:
Friends Meeting House, Newcastle under Lyme
Speaker:
HOWARD GRACE, Executive producer of the film

FROM JESUS TO PAUL; ONE GOSPEL OR TWO ?

"If only the church would go back to the simple good news proclaimed by Jesus and put aside Paul's elaborate and abstruse theology" "Paul invented the religion Christianity, with little regard for the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth". How often we have heard views such as these or even thought them ourselves. In this session we shall look at themes from Paul's letters which suggest continuity between his theology and Jesus and hopefully see their interpretation and relevance for today's very different world.

Friends Meeting House, Newcastle under Lyme
