"Rebuilding America after Trump"

The speaker, live from Springfield, Missouri, will be our friend, Rev Dr Roger Ray. Roger will deliver this talk for his Sunday sermon [February 21] but will deliver it again for us on the 25th, followed by the usual QA and discussion. So have your questions ready [I am already thinking about such as police violence, racism and BLM; the role and reason of Evangelical fundamentalist Christians who supported Trump at two Presidential elections even though he was all that such Christians would otherwise reject as being 'unholy'].

Patrick and Davy film discussion

The next Midweek Topic will be on Wednesday 17th February. The film clip to be watched before the zoom session is https://madeofstories.uk/patrick-and-davy/ . The short film clip is about Patrick and Davy. In a city still scarred by political and religious divide, Belfast-born Patrick and Davy, Catholic and Protestant, have found great friendship through their love of the Belfast Giants ice hockey team. Their weekly podcast, "A View from the Bridge" encourages their listeners in the hope that "in the land of the Giants everyone is equal". A glimpse into their story prompts us to the wider consideration of how religious identity has "at all times and in all places" been a force for good and evil. If anyone other than the usual regulars would like to join us, please contact Mike Dennis and he will ensure that you receive the zoom link.

Clergy burnout, well-being, and resilience - Webinar

Clergy burnout, well-being, and resilience - Webinar

Is ministry burnout inevitable? Can self-sacrificial living ever be viable? Or, do clergy, in fact, have it better than most when it comes to work-life balance?

In this webinar we'll explore what it means to build resilience. Parish ministry comes with its own particular challenges and anxieties. How do you avoid emotional exhaustion and burnout?

And in the context of a pandemic - where significant numbers of clergy have reported increased stress, fatigue and exhaustion - what does truly sustainable ministry look like?

Our expert panel will look at what churches are doing to support their clergy, how parishes can help, and what needs to change. This Church Times webinar will focus specifically on clergy well-being, however anyone, lay or ordained, and from any denomination, is welcome to attend.
