Gloucestershire Group Meeting – I am the earth sitting - Buddhist chanting with Tenjo Hopwood

This coming Saturday, we welcome the return to our group of Tenjo Hopwood, a Buddhist priest working in Gloucestershire. Everyone is welcome to join this session as Tenjo gives us a lesson in Buddhist chanting.

When Tenjo spoke to us in 2020 we were meeting on Zoom. He offered then to return when we were meeting in person in order to teach us about Buddhist chanting and to help us explore this practice for ourselves.
At that first meeting, Tenjo explained that in Buddhist thought our personality is not the same as our underlying self. Personality is a construct which responds to what is happening around us and who we meet. In contrast, each of us may come to learn that at our deepest level we are a unique expression of all that is. To find our underlying self we need to find a way to strip away our personality. This is where chanting may have a role.
