Questions for us to consider in advance are below, also attached as a Word doc if you prefer..
The churches and rites of passage: baptisms, marriages, funerals ...
Case studies:

  • You and the extended family have been, and some still are, members of your denomination/church. A new grandchild is born. Would you hope that she will be baptised?
  • Your son and his partner have set up home. What kind of legal/religious ceremony, if any, might they expect to go through and what would be your hopes?
  • A member of the family dies in middle age. What might be the wishes of the immediate next of kin in regard to any funeral? What would you hope for?

As you think about these brief scenarios, you might reflect upon the opportunities they present to a progressive church.

We meet online at 6.30 pm this Sunday, 12th November, for approximately an hour - usually a bit over.
Feel free to bring snacks and drinks.
Looking forward to seeing you then.
