This conference aims to focus on the spiritual dimensions of faith. To see with new eyes is to discover insights from each other and from other faith traditions, to allow ourselves to seek Jesus outside the box. We will consider feelings, emotions, self-examinations and silence. This is an opportunity to re-envision our faith and to ask how progressive Christianity can impact our everyday lives. Questions might include
- how can we enhance and develop our own inner lives?
- who are our trusted companions?
- what values and ideas can they share with us?
- what difference does a progressive faith make to our relationships?
- what is compassionate social justice?
The conference will be led by Mark Townsend, well-known to many in PCN after he led a highly regarded retreat for us at Swanwick in 2011. Mark is a priest in the Anglican tradition, the author of many books including “Jesus Outside the Box” and “The Gospel of Falling Down”. Mark will give the main conference address, introduce a time for group work and conclude by responding to what the groups come up with.
At lunchtime the 2014 PCN Britain AGM will take place. You are invited to bring a packed lunch or you can order a lunch box from the Priory Rooms for ÂŁ9. There are also food outlets in the city centre within a five minute walk. All drinks are free. The conference will be chaired by Tony Rutherford, a PCN Trustee. There will be a book stall.
