Ian Stuubs writes – I was ordained in the Church of England in 1970 aged 23 and retired from active service in July 2016. Over that time I have served in a variety of roles and responsibilities in parishes and in non parochial urban/industrial mission, community work and adult education. The last 15 years of my ministry were spent in two parishes in Manchester and Derby dioceses. In my theological training and subsequently I have been very influenced by Liberation Theology, Death of God school in US, Sea of Faith (I have most of Don’s books) and Critical Historical study of the NT. For some years I have described myself, to those in the church and beyond, who ask, as a non realist and humanist. I no longer practice as a priest but I do draw a lot of my approach on preparing for a good death from much experience of death and dying in my work over the years.

I want to stress that, although I am a supporter and member of Assisted Dying I would like to guide us in opening and exploring the issues on all sides.
