We face a situation in this country where the received economic wisdom is that we must cut the deficit by reducing government spending. These cuts are being felt most acutely by the poorest members of society who are least able to bear them. Is this ‘cut- the deficit’ policy really necessary?

Will it work? Is it just? If Jesus’ message about the kingdom of God relates to this world, then surely these are pressing questions that radical Christians should be tackling.
