‘What is the Good News?’

Our Christmas event - divided between an in-house discussion on the theme: 'What is the Good News?' and our by-now-traditional end of year celebration with a glass of wine and mince pies. We hope to explore what is at the heart of our journey, given the difficulty with much of the prevalent understanding of Christmas. Can we do that in an hour?!!! For the second half of the evening we break for refreshments and the opportunity to have some relaxed conversation together. N.B. Please note the 15th is not our usual last-in the-month date for PCN. We revert to the usual cycle in January.

Location:
Room 2, the Cluny Centre, Braid Road, Edinburgh

‘Significant Chaos’ - a talk by Michael Paterson

We are looking forward to a return visit to Edinburgh PCN by Michael Paterson, who is going to speak to us about 'Significant Chaos'. The title is extracted from a quote he saw scrawled as graffiti on a convent wall in London some time ago: 'Your order is meaningless - my chaos is significant.' Michael is always challenging and stimulating, and is likely to move us beyond our comfort zone! All are, as always, welcome. Tea and coffee will be available from 7.15p.m.

Room 2, the Cluny Centre, Braid Road, Edinburgh

In Search of the Common Good

The Inaugural Rev’d Dr Denis Duncan Memorial Lecture will be given by John Bell of the Iona Community.

He works throughout the world, lecturing in theological colleges in the UK, Canada and the United States, but is primarily concerned with the renewal of congregational worship at the grass roots level. In recent years he has become a popular, and sometimes controversial, contributor to the BBC’s Thought for the Day, as well as attracting large audiences at events such as the Greenbelt Christian Festival.
