Life Death and Everything - Free to Believe

This year’s reading party is at Bishop Woodford House in the delightful old Cathedral town of Ely, 15 miles from Cambridge and close to the Fens. As always, the programme gives time to enjoy as well as to relax.
The conference is from Monday September 9th-Thursday 12t.h and costs £255 ensuite. There are a small number of non-ensuite rooms at £235.
The conference will be led by Anne Lewitt, URC minister at Petworth, Pulborough and Billingsworth, and Free to Believe chair, Martin Camroux. |
The reading party offers a chance to think about the meaning of our lives from two different perspectives, both open-minded and critical and reflective, but one mostly no longer believing in God the other still believing.

The Pulpit and Politics

SPECTRUM recently had a conference entitled 'Culture and Communication' and we will use the first paper 'What are we saying' to explore the role of the 'Church' in relation to politics especially in divided and polarised times like these. MP's on both sides of the Brexit debate and within parties claim Christian faith, as do many world leaders. Leaders within churches also hold different views including on what democracy means following the referendum, so where does the authority lie to challenge and test practice and policy?

Location:
United Reformed Church, Hillmorton Rd Rugby, Prayer room

Every Tribe: Diverse Saints in a Diverse World - Sharon Prentis

The Bible visualises a new heaven and a new earth with people of every language and nation, so why are all the saints in our paintings and stained glass windows white? The bias in the church’s storytelling means that many are surprised to discover that St Augustine is North African and St George is an immigrant with Turkish and Palestinian parents.
